Living Room Refresh! One Room Challenge- Reveal

Hey Beautiful Soul! I’m so happy to finally reveal the Living Room Refresh One Room Challenge.

This had to be one of the most challenging rooms I have done. We had a lot of problems running in. But I am happy with how it turned out so far.

Here is the before:

THE DETAILS

The elements that really made a difference I have to say were the chandelier from Crystorma , OpalHouse rug and Tempaper wallpaper. They really brought the room together.

LIGHTING

I want to start off with the light fixture I chose. Lighting in this room is limited because the windows are facing a brick wall. I knew I wanted something that would make the space feel brighter.

I wanted a modern touch to the space. Although the vintage chandelier was nice, it felt outdated. Working with Crystorma was great, shipping was fast. I chose the Brielle chandelier in dark bronze. I wanted to incorporate touches of dark blacks in this room. The color psychology of black is sophistication and elegance. The part that I was really excited about was the details of the cappa shells. Touches of nature elements will definitely bring a sense of serenity to your space. When I was adjusting the shells I couldn’t help but think of little moons illuminating. It sure made the room feel whimsical.

RUG

I was excited to receive a rug from the OpalHouse collection in Target. I love the pieces from OpalHouse. The Elaenia Vintage Persian rug definitely brought warmth to the space. It has a timeless classic design to it, detailed with black touches. The texture however is what sold me! It is so soft and thick! The first night we unrolled it, we spent laying on the floor, the is how comfortable the rug is!

Wallpaper

The windows in this room aren’t placed in the middle of the room. That left us with a random wall in the corner. I wanted to make that corner pop out and the best way to do so is with wallpaper. I love the peel-and-stick removable wallpapers! They are so simple to install, it literally took me under 10 mins. I went with Bird Watch design . I loved the metallic touches. It created an extra form of lighting to the space! When working with a dark space you want to be creative with ways you can add extra illumination. Tempaper’s wallpapers had a wide range of designs but something about having a pattern of branches and birds made the space feel more serene.

There you have it! There are still pieces that I would like to add like a fireplace, a chest, and change the fabric on the sofa, but for now, this space is complete. That is the beauty of designing your spaces, it doesn’t have to be perfect, the perfection is found the in process. Designing your home is an intimate process between your home and yourself, enjoy it -this is your safe haven.
